Senator Koen Petersen

Koen Petersen is a Dutch Senator representing the VVD. He serves as Chair of the Senate’s
Committee on Foreign Relations, Defense, and Development Cooperation.
Petersen has an extensive background in the corporate sector. Over the past thirty years, he
has held positions at Procter & Gamble, RELX, JDE Peet’s, and MAAS International,
working in Amsterdam, New York, and London.
He studied Political Science at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam and American Studies at the
University of Amsterdam. Petersen is the author of several books on American politics and
regularly provides analysis and commentary on international affairs in the media.
In addition, he serves on the boards of several non-profit organizations.
