Lawrence W. (“Larry”) Reed is President Emeritus of the Foundation for Economic Education (FEE), where he served as president from 2008 to 2019. He also holds the titles of Humphreys Family Senior Fellow and Ron Manners Global Ambassador for Liberty. Previously, Reed was the founding president of the Mackinac Center for Public Policy, leading it for 21 years, and taught economics at Northwood University, chairing its department from 1982 to 1984.
Reed is a prolific writer with nearly 2,000 published articles, including in The Wall Street Journal, USA Today, and The American Spectator. He has authored or co-authored eight books, such as Was Jesus a Socialist? and Real Heroes. Known for his engaging lectures, his popular talks like “Seven Principles of Sound Policy” and “Great Myths of the Great Depression” have been translated into over a dozen languages.
His global impact spans 92 countries, earning recognition such as the Grand Cross of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Poland and honorary doctorates from Central Michigan University and Northwood University. Reed continues to inspire through his writing, speaking, and advisory roles worldwide.
